Races PRX Sha Tin - HK

Was pushed widest into the straight when seventh at Happy Valley last start, but the six-length margin still leaves him with work to do. The start prior was also plain, finishing ninth behind Amazing Gaze and making no impression late. Wins at the trip help, though this track-and-distance record is a clear query.

Returns from a lengthy spell after finishing second last at Happy Valley over 2200m, beaten over 11 lengths and unwanted in the market. His earlier fourth at this venue was more competitive, but he has not raced around 1600m before and is unplaced from nine starts at this track. Has plenty to prove.

Makes his race debut with a profile that gives some interest rather than certainty. He was a $280,000 2yo in training purchase and is a half-brother to Matriarch Rose, a four-time winner who won on debut and later won over 1600m at Sandown-Hillside. Pedigree gives him some appeal, but race experience is the unknown.

Resumed with a solid fourth at this track, beaten just under two lengths by Jolly Brilliant after travelling well with a lead mid-straight. He had worked home evenly in a close sixth at the same venue before that. Awkward draw tempers the winning case.

Had a tough run without cover from a wide draw last start and was still close enough turning for home before weakening into seventh, beaten just over three lengths. The Happy Valley run prior was also a fading eighth, so the recent form has not been sharp. Recent form is below his best, but a place is within reach.

Returns from a two-month freshening after missing by a nose at Happy Valley as the well-supported favourite. That followed a Class 5 win over 2200m, beating Golden Fortune by just over a length, and his season record remains very sound. The 1600m record is the query, but current form is hard to knock.

Backs up quickly after finishing fifth at Happy Valley over 1000m, beaten just under three lengths when near the top of betting. He had been sent out favourite at this track over 1400m the start before and weakened late into tenth. Has 1600m form, but two recent beaten-favourite profiles keep him to place claims.

Was disappointing when ninth at this track over 1800m as a well-supported favourite, beaten seven and a half lengths without a clear excuse. The run prior had more merit, closing off once clear after being held up early in the straight. Blinkers come off and a rebound would go close.

Has been safely held in two runs this campaign, finishing eighth at this track last start when beaten seven lengths at big odds. His first-up ninth was better on margin, beaten three and a half lengths, but he was unwanted in the market and only worked home evenly. New trip adds another hurdle.

Has been building towards a win, finishing third at this track last start, beaten a length by Jolly Brilliant as the well-supported favourite. His previous fourth behind Luck Is Back was also solid, beaten a length and a half after making ground without threatening. The best winning profile in the race.

Covered ground throughout last start and still made ground late for fifth at this track, beaten just over two lengths by Jolly Brilliant at big odds. That was a clear step forward from his tenth the run prior, when he faded late behind Luck Is Back. Still winless at this track and distance, but can sneak into the minors.

Returns from a five-week freshening after finishing seventh at this track over 1400m, beaten three and a half lengths and unwanted in the market. His previous Happy Valley run was poor, dropping out to finish last and beaten over 16 lengths. Has placed at this track, though current form is hard to trust.

Produced a solid third at this track last start, beaten just under three lengths by Smart Fat Cat after being near the top of an open market. The start prior was also competitive when sixth, beaten just under two lengths, though he did not sustain the effort late. Still a maiden, but his local consistency puts him right in this.

Was never a factor first-up at this track, finishing 11th behind Shannon Glow after being pushed along wide into the straight. His previous run at this venue was also poor, beaten over 10 lengths by Bling Bling Genius when unwanted in the market. Others look stronger.
