Races PRX Happy Valley - HK

Returns from a ten-month break after ending last campaign with two unplaced Class 2 runs at Sha Tin, the latest an 11th behind Colourful King when beaten just under six lengths at long odds. That recent race form reads plainly, but his record at this track and distance is outstanding with four wins and six placings from 13 starts. A fresh showing would not surprise.

Worked home for fourth at this venue first-up, beaten just over a length by Prestige Always, and he was respected near the top of an open market. He has four wins and seven placings from 24 starts at this track and distance, plus three wins in the past 12 months, so the profile is strong. Proven at the track and distance, aided by the 3kg claim, and sets the standard.

Returns from a one-month let-up after finishing fifth at Sha Tin, beaten two and a half lengths by Jumbo Treasure despite starting at big odds. He was ninth at this venue the run prior after being crowded early and lacking the dash to challenge. Track-and-distance win gives him a place profile.

Returns from a four-month break after finishing last on the Sha Tin All Weather, well beaten by 24 lengths behind Pi Legend after struggling from the 600m. His previous seventh at this venue was also only fair, despite being well placed turning in. Proven at this track and distance, but recent form is the issue.

Returns from a three-month break after a strong last campaign at this venue, ending with a nose second to Wings Of War after being pushed widest into the straight. He had won the start prior, beating Flying Wrote by just under two lengths, and his 1200m record reads three wins and one placing from six starts. Strong 1200m record keeps him right in the mix.

Closed off late when eighth at this venue last start, beaten two and a half lengths by Prestige Always, after switching for a run inside the final 200m. He had also finished fifth here at the run prior by the same margin, so the efforts are not poor, but he has lacked a winning punch this campaign. Proven over this course and distance, but must find a stronger closing burst.

Resumed with a fifth at Sha Tin, beaten just under four lengths by Lucy In The Sky, after being held in until the 200m and sticking to the task. That was not without merit, but he was unwanted in the market and has been unplaced in eight starts across the past 12 months. Has to improve at his first run at this venue.

Ran a better race first-up at this venue when fourth to Ace Champion, beaten just over two lengths after beginning well and challenging early in the straight. That was a clear improvement on his previous tenth at Sha Tin, where he dropped away late. Wide barrier and limited track-and-distance record keep him in the roughie bracket.

Won well first-up in Class 4 at this venue, covering ground without cover before producing a strong run to beat Dan Attack by just over a length. This is tougher, but he drops sharply from the 60.5kg carried there to 54kg and draws barrier one. Class rise is the test, but the upside is clear.

Returns from a four-month break after a fourth at Sha Tin, beaten three lengths by Motor at long odds, when bumped and forced wide into the straight. His prior eighth behind Smart Golf was well below that level, so the profile is mixed. Barrier two helps and a 1200m win gives him minor claims.

Ran second at this venue first-up, beaten half a length by Prestige Always after sweeping wide and finishing strongly down the centre. He was sent out favourite there, so the defeat leaves a slight query, but he still finished ahead of Flying Wrote in that race. Looks a sound place hope, though the winning edge is still a query.

Scored first-up in Class 4 at this venue, starting favourite and beating Lucky Mcqueen by a length after finishing off strongly from midfield. He was also third here two back, beaten just under a length by Leading Agility at big odds. Tougher grade, but his course-and-distance record makes him a danger.
