Races BR Eagle Farm

Debuts as a $100,000 Lucky Vega colt for Kelly Schweida, with Cejay Graham taking the ride from barrier five. The stable has a sound debut record and the Schweida-Lucky Vega combination has produced results from a small sample. Can make an immediate impact.

Kicks off from barrier two with Ben Thompson, a leading jockey at this track, booked for the ride. The NZ$120,000 Redwood colt is from a family with some debut performance, including Momoka placing first time out at this venue. Shoulders good pedigree and gets the key jockey booking.

Starts his career for Paul Shailer with Ryan Maloney aboard from barrier three, which is a positive racing set-up for a new-season juvenile. Can fill a minor spot.

Makes his debut for Gary Portelli, a Group 1-winning trainer, with Anna Roper engaged and barrier six to overcome. The $80,000 Sejardan colt has some stable intent behind the trip north, but the trainer's recent debut figures are modest. Barrier six is workable, but the stable debut numbers keep him to place level.

Draws the inside and carries 54.5kg on debut for Donna Stanbridge, with Jason Taylor taking the ride. The $100,000 Tassort filly has a straightforward enough starting point, but the stable's debut strike rate is low and her overall profile sits behind the main hopes. A sharper race-day showing is required to trouble them. Not at this stage.

Second-up after finishing fourth on debut at this track, beaten four lengths by Venus Invicta on soft ground after settling well back and closing off. She was near the top of an open market there, so there was some respect behind the run. Needs more time.

Debuts with a strong profile for Tony Gollan and Angela Jones, combining a leading stable, a leading jockey and a proven juvenile family. She is a full sister to Gin Spirit, a Listed winner and G3 placegetter, and was most recently a $180,000 buy. Bright start anticipated.
