Races CRP Mackay

Returns from a two-month freshening after an eighth at Moruya, beaten five and a half lengths at long odds after travelling handy and only battling from the turn. He was also safely held there on heavy ground two back, so the recent form is modest. Others preferred.

Had genuine early interference at Townsville last start and still made ground from well back when seventh, beaten just under three lengths, so the run was better than the finishing position. He now eases from provincial company, but the prior Gladstone fourth came as a well-supported favourite and he remains winless from 11 starts. Not here.

Returns from a six-month break after a promising debut second at this track, beaten just over a length on soft ground as a short odds-on favourite. He did a few things wrong there, jumping awkwardly, racing keenly and laying out, yet still stuck on well before being run down late by Heroic Talent. Strong winning profile.

Returns from a lengthy spell after ending the last campaign with an eighth at Gold Coast Poly, beaten over 10 lengths, though he did race wide throughout. His previous Sunshine Coast run was also plain when beaten eight and a half lengths at big odds. May need the run.

Returns from a lengthy spell after a debut run at Sale where she was second last, beaten a long way at long odds, and the stewards noted she was eased throughout. Mixed trials offer a little hope, but she has to show much more under race pressure.

Has been close enough to the market at recent country and picnic runs without breaking through, most recently fifth at Bowen and beaten just under five lengths. This is a stronger meeting than that last start, and her record remains unplaced from five career starts. Place claims look the limit.

Returns after three months off following a third at Bowen, where she was sent out favourite and finished just over two lengths from Emsies Girl. She hung in late there, while the Bairnsdale run two back is easier to overlook after racing four wide without cover on heavy ground. Blinkers off, strong jockey booked, genuine winning chance.

Has been well beaten in both starts, finishing last at Cloncurry last start when beaten over 11 lengths after settling back and making no impression. Her debut at this track was also well held, with stewards noting she weakened from the 400m. Hard to recommend on exposed form.

Improved at Bowen last start when fourth, beaten two and a half lengths and near the top of betting, which was a cleaner effort than her well-beaten Ewan run the start prior. Place claims.

Returns from a five-month break with sound local credentials, including two placings from five starts at this track and one placing from two tries at the distance. Her seventh at this venue before the break was below her best after jumping awkwardly and laying in, but the prior head second here behind Soydecafflatte reads well for this. Strong chance if ready.

Returns from a ten-month break after finishing second on debut at Rockhampton, although the margin to Wasabi Barbie was nine and a half lengths. He jumped awkwardly before working home evenly, so there was enough in the run to suggest some foundation. Claim helps, but no recent trials listed makes fitness the main question.

Makes her debut for Tom Button as a $23,000 yearling purchase and has at least shown readiness by winning a recent Townsville trial after an earlier trial fifth. That gives her some race-day interest, but there is no official form to measure her against and the stable debut figures are only moderate. Market will guide, but race pressure is the test.
