Races BRX Gatton

Placed again when third at Lismore first-up, beaten two lengths after being bumped early and steadied near the 800m before closing nicely behind Aurora Blaze. He was favourite on debut at Mornington and ran second on soft ground despite beginning slowly. First-time blinkers can sharpen him up, and he looks the one to beat.

Was unwanted in the market and finished ninth at this track last start, beaten eight and a half lengths after having every chance close enough to the turn. The Warwick run prior was also plain, although he jumped awkwardly and found trouble. Has to find a sharper finish.

Returns from a lengthy spell after ending last preparation with a last placing at Terang, beaten just over nine lengths behind Star Of Stirling. His Ararat run before that was also well held, though he did work home fairly from a rearward spot. Old form was mixed, but this is within reach if ready.

Was safely held on debut at Beaudesert, finishing last and beaten over 15 lengths after settling back and losing touch before the turn. She was at long odds there and no clear excuse was recorded. Substantial improvement required.

Finished last in a five-horse picnic race at Tabulam last start, beaten seven and a half lengths by Cut Diamonds, and now meets a harder assignment. Her previous Sunshine Coast run was no better, with the market offering little support before she was beaten over 12 lengths. Others make more appeal.

Ran fourth at Ballina last start, beaten just over four lengths at big odds after working into the race before flattening out, with a late hampering note adding some context. Two runs back at this venue she was slow away and had trouble getting clear. Better suited as a place chance than a win play.

Went very close at Kilcoy last start, running second and beaten just over half a length behind Sweedish Queen after working home evenly from back in the field. That was a clear lift on her Warwick sixth, where she was steadied near the 400m. Long maiden record is the query, but she is in the right form.

Was near the top of an open Toowoomba market last start and finished fifth, beaten three and a half lengths, after having plenty of ground to make up. Her Beaudesert run prior produced a similar margin without threatening. Still a maiden after seven starts, so place claims look stronger.

Was beaten five and a half lengths when sixth behind Sweedish Queen at Kilcoy last week, sitting behind the leaders and only fair to the line at big odds. That leaves her with ground to make up on Ellofaby from the same race. In the mix.

Resumed in metro company at Doomben and was never a factor, finishing eighth and beaten just over eight lengths after beginning slowly from a long price. This is an easier meeting, which is the key positive, and her broader last-12-month profile is not hopeless for this level. Easier setting gives her place claims.

Makes her debut with two trials behind her, the latest at Dalby two weeks ago where she finished fifth over 800m. The stable has a solid debut record from limited numbers, and Brandon Lerena is a positive booking. Trial form is only moderate, so race-day sharpness has to appear.

Had excuses on debut at Tara, where he was slow to begin and raced wide throughout before finishing sixth, beaten over 15 lengths. That makes the margin easier to understand, though not easy to excuse completely. Can improve second-up, though only an outside place hope.

Offered little at Kilcoy last start, finishing last and beaten eight and a half lengths after being in touch before dropping out, with the market also against her. The Gympie run before that was heavier again, beaten over 16 lengths. Very hard to make a winning case.

Returns from a lengthy spell after being tailed off at Gold Coast Poly at the end of last preparation, when unwanted in the market and eased a long way from home. Her Kilcoy run before that was another last placing. Will need the run.
