Races BRX Gatton

Returns from a lengthy spell after ending last campaign with a fourth at Sunshine Coast on heavy ground, beaten just over eight lengths at long odds but picking up reasonably from the rear. His Doomben run prior was plain, though he was tightened soon after the start. Last campaign hinted at improvement, but the maiden record keeps him to place claims.

Placed at this venue last start over 1600m, finishing third behind Mahmoa after being near the top of an open market and striking some mid-race bumping. His Doomben sixth before that was fair from well back and the market had given him little chance. The 1400m record is the query, so he looks a genuine place hope.

Returns from a lengthy spell after a distant last at Sunshine Coast, where he covered ground and dropped out of contention with no strong excuse. His previous third behind Big Tech showed he can be competitive when allowed to build into it, and a Deagon trial placing offers some readiness. Capable on the earlier Sunshine Coast third, but the last run was a clear concern.

Returns from a lengthy spell after finishing last at Toowoomba, beaten over 11 lengths when unable to make ground. His sixth there beforehand also lacked a finish after beginning slowly and racing keenly. May need the run.

Had excuses at this venue last start, racing wide throughout before finishing sixth behind Mahmoa, beaten five lengths. That followed a Dalby third when he travelled closer but lacked the turn of foot to win. Honest profile for the minors.

Returns from a lengthy spell after a disappointing ninth at Sunshine Coast, where he was well fancied but slow away, checked and steadied before making no late impression. His Warwick debut second behind King Cobama was much better, beaten just over half a length after finishing strongly. Debut second reads well, but he was a beaten favourite when well held before the break.

Was wide throughout at Sunshine Coast last start, but he was still beaten over 16 lengths at long odds and never made an impact behind Castaway. His Dalby second before that was a placing, though the margin was seven and a half lengths and again came at long odds. Others bring stronger claims.

Has been ninth at both runs this campaign, most recently at Sunshine Coast when slow to begin, settled rearward and worked home only fairly while beaten just over eight lengths. Her first-up run over 1000m was closer on paper, but she was unwanted in the market there as well. Only a rough place chance.

Should find this easier than the Doomben mid-week assignment first-up, where she led and was still under pressure late when second last behind Imminent Appeal. The market had her at long odds, so there was no great expectation, and her earlier Eagle Farm run was well below the mark. Recent margins are plain, but this looks a more suitable target.

Has been competitive for most of this campaign, placing twice before a fifth at Ipswich last week when near the top of an open market and only working home evenly. She had earlier started favourite at Warwick and stuck on for third after leading. Quick return is a query, but her form holds up well.

Made a very encouraging debut at Grafton, finishing third behind Steady On and beaten just under a length after racing wide in the early stages. That effort came on soft ground and he already has a placing at the trip, which reads well for a lightly raced maiden. Already proven at the trip on soft ground and looks the one to beat.

Kept on from the rear on debut at Doomben, finishing ninth behind Fleeting Boom but only beaten five and a half lengths after being bumped at the start. She was a NZ$210,000 buy and had trialled a few weeks before that first run, so improvement second-up is plausible. The new 1400m is the query, but she has upside second-up.

Resumed with a sixth at this venue over 1100m, beaten just under five lengths after jumping awkwardly and failing to quicken. Her previous run at this venue was a fifth, beaten just over nine lengths, though she did work home after settling well back. Place at best.

Returns from a six-week freshening after a second-last at Gold Coast, beaten over 15 lengths and unwanted in the market. Her ninth there the run prior was also heavy on the margin, despite being held up on the home turn. Hard to recommend off 12 unplaced starts.
