Races CR Northam

Was sent out favourite at Kalgoorlie last start and finished fourth, beaten three and a half lengths, after beginning only fairly and settling rearward. His Belmont Park ninth two back was better than it reads, with stewards noting he was held up near the 200m. Can be thereabouts.

Resumed with a strong second at Belmont Park, beaten a neck by Treasured Legacy after travelling comfortably behind the leaders in mid-week company. He had also run second in a 2yo+ Maiden at Pinjarra Scarpside before the break, covering ground from the 700m and still fighting on. Needs some luck from the draw, but he rates highly on the fresh run and can raise the bar.

Had excuses at Belmont Park last start when last, beaten over 12 lengths, with stewards reporting he raced wide throughout. That followed a much better second at Belmont Park, where he started at long odds and was beaten only half a length by Hot Chix Lane. Disappointing last start but he can bounce back to form third-up.

Has finished fourth at her past two starts at this venue, most recently beaten just under five lengths over 1600m after sitting behind the leaders. The previous fourth was stronger, beaten just over a length after looming to pounce but not finishing off. Place claims look stronger than winning claims.

Produced the best recent form in the race when fourth in a 3yo Open at Belmont Park, beaten two lengths by Dawn Dancer after settling well back, being steadied and charging home on soft ground. That was a drop from Saturday company into an easier assignment today, and his prior second at this track in a 3yo Maiden gives him a local platform. Solid from the back last start in stronger company and the rise in trip looks right up his alley.

Was seventh at this track first-up in a 3yo Maiden, beaten just under nine lengths behind London Rose, and the run came in the same race where Phoenix Flaming finished ahead of him. He did make some late inroads from well back, but there was no clear excuse and his earlier 2yo Open effort at Belmont Park lacked a turn of foot. Has to lift sharply to trouble the main chances.

Resumed with a solid fourth at Bunbury, beaten a head by Champagne Talks after tracking the speed and working into the race. Her prior third at York came in a 2yo+ Maiden on soft ground, where she began only fairly, covered ground and still finished strongly. Well placed on the back of the fresh effort and she makes plenty of appeal.

Returns from a lengthy spell with a close second in her latest Belmont Park trial, which at least suggests she has been readied to resume. She ended last campaign with a sixth in a 3yo NMW1Y at Belmont Park, beaten just under three lengths, after racing keenly, and her previous 2yo Open run included late interference. Race form is still unproven, especially around 1300m.

Debuted at this track when ninth behind Empire Of Rome, beaten just over four lengths at big odds after beginning well and sitting behind the leaders. She was bumped approaching the 100m, so there was some late interference, and the run had enough early professionalism to suggest natural improvement is possible. Open to second-up improvement for a minor placing.

Makes his debut from a wide barrier with two Belmont Park trials behind him, the better of them a narrow second over 400m before an eighth over 1000m. Chanel Cooper's 1.5kg claim is a small positive, and Luke Fernie's debut record gives some grounding for respect. Wide draw makes it tougher, but he has place appeal.

Debuts after two Lark Hill trials, finishing seventh and then ninth, with the latest margin an 11.28-length defeat over 950m. Jefferson Tsang's 2kg claim and strong local profile are positives, but the trial evidence is not compelling and there is no race experience to lean on. Others bring stronger evidence.

Makes her debut off the right sort of trial, winning easily at Lark Hill by 2.49 lengths over 950m after an earlier educational fourth. William Pike taking the ride is a major pointer, and Michael Grantham's debut record, along with a strong trainer-sire profile, gives the set-up real substance. Latest trial was superb and Pike's booking suggests she can run a big race on debut.

Was second last at Belmont Park first-up, beaten over 11 lengths, after covering ground throughout at big odds. That gives a partial excuse, but it followed a debut at Kalgoorlie where he was last and beaten over 16 lengths in a 2yo+ Maiden. Early form leaves him with plenty to find.

Finished eighth at Bunbury last start, beaten just over five lengths, after racing wide near the 1000m and failing to launch a serious challenge. Her previous run was also an eighth in a 2yo+ Maiden at Bunbury, where she settled midfield and did not quicken. Blinkers may help, but she has to find a lot more.

Finished second last at Bunbury first-up, beaten seven and a half lengths behind Champagne Talks at big odds, and was also beaten by Photosynthesis in that race. Two back he filled the same position in a 3yo Maiden at Pinjarra Scarpside, again starting at long odds and racing wide throughout. The 1300m record offers little encouragement.

Was last at Kalgoorlie last start, beaten six and a half lengths, after being bumped at the start, racing keenly and getting onto heels near the 450m. Even allowing for that, he has been safely held this campaign, including a long-way defeat at Junction two back after being restrained approaching the 1000m. Hard to make a winning case on current form.
