Races BR Eagle Farm

Made it two strong runs this campaign by winning a Class 2 over 1640m at Doomben, beating Toro Strike by just over half a length despite racing wide from the 900m. That followed a soft-ground Ipswich second as favourite in CG Class 2 company. Proven enough at the trip and looks the one to beat.

Held his ground when fourth in a Class 6 over 1700m at Gold Coast, beaten three and a half lengths after starting among the outsiders. Two back he was a sound second in NMW grade at this venue, only being run down late on soft ground. Suited at 1820m and profiles as a place hope.

Was unwanted in the market and finished last in a Benchmark 72 at Doomben, beaten just over six lengths after beginning slowly and covering ground. His first-up ninth was also plain, so current form is the obvious concern. Improvement third-up would put him into the minors.

Was below his best in a country Open at Lismore last week, settling well back and finishing seventh, beaten five and a half lengths after jumping awkwardly. His prior second at this track reads much better, as he was held up before finishing strongly behind Pure Alpha. Quick back-up and claim keep him right in this.

Backs up quickly after finishing fourth at Sunshine Coast over 1600m, beaten a length and a half. Before that he led and was only gunned down late at Gold Coast, so his on-speed pattern gives him a chance to make his own luck despite the wide barrier. Wide draw and wet-track record temper the win case, but he can place.

Picked up nicely from back in the field when sixth in a Benchmark 65 at Doomben, beaten just under three lengths at generous odds. His Toowoomba fourth in Benchmark 70 company was fair without being as strong through the line. New at 1820m, but wet form and the claim help.

Comes off a provincial Benchmark 58 win at Gold Coast, where he beat California Grass by just under a length after working into it and finding enough late. That was an improvement on his Gold Coast Poly fifth in Benchmark 62 grade. Has to find another level.

Went close in country grade at Warwick when third to So You Can Torque, beaten just over half a length after leading and racing keenly. Two back he ran third in CG Class 2 company at Ipswich but was beaten just over seven lengths behind Metaphorically. Happy to let go.

Responded well last start at Sunshine Coast, winning a Class 2 by just over a length from Golden Smile after giving a good kick and holding them safely. The run prior in Benchmark 60 grade on soft ground was less convincing when seventh after leading. Prior soft-track run was plain, so she appeals more for the placings.

Has been consistent without winning, most recently second in a Benchmark 60 at Sunshine Coast, beaten a long neck after settling just off the lead. She was also runner-up in Benchmark 65 company at Ipswich as a well-supported favourite, though she laid out throughout. Place claims look stronger than win claims.

Resumed with a useful fifth in a Benchmark 65 at Doomben, coming from well back to be beaten two and a half lengths behind Flaxlands at big odds. Her previous run was a close Ipswich third over 2180m, so stepping back up in distance should not worry her fitness-wise. The 1820m record is the query, but she is a live danger.

Ran fourth to Global Eclipse in a Doomben Class 2, beaten just under four lengths after beginning awkwardly, settling well back and covering ground before picking up late. Her Ipswich sixth in FM Class 2 company had a similar slow-away pattern. Still has margin to make up, but fourth-up she can place.

Had excuses when beaten over 19 lengths at Sunshine Coast last start in Benchmark 60 grade, with stewards noting she was steadied, forced wide and eased late. Her prior third on soft ground was far better, beaten just under two lengths after travelling well. A sharp rebound is required.
