Races MR Pakenham

Resumed with a strong BM56 win over 1454m at Kyneton, settling back before storming home to beat Brutify by just under a length on soft ground. This is tougher after a country win and he steps to 1600m, where his only previous try around the trip was unplaced, but the profile is compelling with two wins from three starts overall and Nadia Daniels stays aboard with a 2kg claim. Plenty of upside and looks set to go on with things.

Kept on for sixth at Warrnambool last start, beaten three and a half lengths by Cute Girl after being well back, and that was a sounder effort than her last placing in FM BM70 company at Caulfield Heath first-up. She is third-up, Lachlan King has three wins on her, and her record around 1600m includes a win. Recent form is only fair, but she can improve into a placing.

Closed off from well back for fifth at the Bool last start, beaten just under three lengths by Cute Girl at generous odds. His Bendigo sixth before that had some merit after he was steadied and held up late, though he was still never a winning threat. Rough hope on best form.

Drops sharply out of a BM78 at Cranbourne after finishing second last behind Nation's Call, but he was held up from the 250m and hampered near the 200m. The Bendigo run prior in BM66 company was also plain, although he raced wide and was beaten nine and a half lengths. Needs to find best.

Went close at Cranbourne last start when second to Savannah Chill, beaten half a length after working home evenly from back in the field. His previous BM66 sixth there was better than it reads after an awkward start and covering ground, and he is proven at 1600m with two wins at the trip. Jamie Mott back on, he should take holding out.

Was beaten two and a half lengths when seventh first-up at Ballarat, but the run had merit after he raced wide and still stuck on around the leaders. His final run before the break was a Class 1 fifth at this track, where he was near the market and struck some interference. Improvement would put him in the place mix.

Was second last in a BM80 at Caulfield last start, beaten just under six lengths by In'Kantosstar after being big odds in Saturday company. The drop back from that level is a help, and she did win at Sale two back from Corona Lad over 1732m, but she is an eight-year-old rising sharply in weight from that latest run. Risking.

Broke through in a Seymour Mdn last start, beating Circus Moon by a neck after beginning slowly, improving into it and holding a late challenge. That followed a Cranbourne Mdn third where he was again slow away and held up late, so his consistency is clear. Harder now, but a placing is within reach from a nice draw.

Bolted in by six lengths in a 1400m Mdn at Pakenham Synthetic last start, beating The Minstrel Boy after beginning well and kicking strongly. He had earlier made late ground at Mornington over 1000m, so the extra ground brought clear improvement, and a recent Pakenham trial adds fitness context. Maps beautifully and can measure right up.

Was second last in a BM66 at Cranbourne most recently, beaten five lengths by Itsukushima after settling back and never threatening, with no clear excuse. The Ballarat win prior was much better, when she worked over Tempt The Gods by just under a length. Possible improver.

Comes off two Cranbourne thirds, most recently in BM66 company behind Itsukushima when beaten just under two lengths at generous odds. The start prior she was beaten just under a length behind Savannah Chill, but the key comparison is that Island Boy had her measure at Cranbourne a couple of weeks ago. In the minor mix again.
