Races CR Northam

Went within a head of breaking through at Kalgoorlie last start in Mdn company, tracking the speed and working home evenly after being sent out favourite. That followed a third at this track when beaten a length and a half despite racing keenly mid-race. Race fit, suited at 1300m and the one to beat.

Debuts off a comfortable Lark Hill trial win and has had two trial wins to prepare for race day. The $65,000 yearling is with the Daniel & Ben Pearce stable, Chris Parnham takes the ride, and that gives him a professional look for a first starter. Wide draw is the query, but he profiles well.

Debuts with blinkers on for the first time, which is the clearest positive in a limited profile. His Belmont Park trial form has been modest, with a fifth two weeks ago after earlier trial results well back in the field. Has to find more on race day.

Was safely held when fifth at this track last start in Mdn company, beaten just over eight lengths after racing handy and failing to quicken. Her previous fifth at Bunbury was better, beaten a length and a half on soft ground after racing wide and laying in. The 1300m record is the query, so place claims look best.

Had genuine excuses when eighth at Ascot last start in NMW1Y company, beginning slowly and then being held up late while still only beaten just over two lengths. The prior Bunbury fourth also had merit after another slow start and interference. Eased in grade with weight relief and can place.

Was beaten over 11 lengths at Bunbury last start after racing wide and weakening from the 500m, while the market gave little encouragement. She was also tenth at this venue first-up, beaten just over eight lengths and making no impression late. The 3kg claim helps, but others read better.

Worked through the line fairly when fourth at Ascot in NMW1Y company last start, beaten a length and a half after being held up late. Her debut fourth at this track was also solid, beaten just over a length after beginning slowly in a big field. Third-up, lighter and right in this.

Returns from a three-month break after finishing sixth at Belmont Park in Open company, where she settled back and was never a factor in Saturday company. Her debut at Ascot was also plain, though she covered ground throughout. Open-company form is plain, but she can improve into a place.

Debuts after two Lark Hill trials, most recently fourth over 930m and beaten just over five lengths. Blinkers come off for race day, which is noted neutrally rather than as a major push. Has some race-day interest, but the trial form has to improve.

Debuts for the Simon A Miller stable after two Belmont Park trials, finishing fifth then seventh in the more recent pair. The trainer and sire combination has produced winners from a small sample, which adds some background interest. Improvement required on race day.

Debuts with five trials behind her, so she has had a decent education, but the latest Belmont Park trial saw her finish ninth and the two most recent have not advertised strong immediate form. Family has depth; race-day form still unproven.
