Races SR Moruya

Improved marginally at Nowra last start, finishing seventh after settling rearward and making some late ground, but he was still beaten five and a half lengths at long odds. His Moruya debut was weaker, finishing last and beaten over 12 lengths on soft ground. Looking to others.

Eases back from provincial grade after finishing seventh at Kembla Grange, where the official note that he raced wide throughout makes the beaten seven lengths easier to assess. The run prior at Wyong was only fair after being near the top of betting, but he has placed twice from seven starts and has been competitive on good tracks. Should be better suited getting out in trip now and a much better effort is expected.

Lifted sharply at Illawarra Grange last start, running third and beaten half a length after sitting just behind the leaders at big odds. That came after a fourth at Hawkesbury where he led and was steadied late, so the recent pattern is trending the right way. Still a maiden, but recent improvement keeps him in the mix.

Ran a sound third at Moruya last start over 1020m, travelling well behind the leaders before being beaten four lengths by Yamashita. She had genuine room issues at Wyong two back when held up near the 150m, and Shaun Guymer stays with a mare he has already placed on. Building nicely this time in work and can put it all together today.

Made a solid return at Illawarra Grange, finishing sixth but beaten just over two lengths after having difficulty getting clear approaching the 300m and being tightened late. She was second to Winning Rulet at Kembla Grange before the break and brings five placings from seven starts overall. Stuck on well fresh in a provincial maiden and looks well placed here with the run under her belt.

Was slow to begin and made no impression when seventh at Moruya last start, beaten over 12 lengths at big odds. Her Queanbeyan debut also saw her miss the start before finishing last, so the barrier manners remain a clear concern. Others bring stronger form.

Returns from a lengthy spell after finishing sixth at Moruya as favourite, beaten three and a half lengths on soft ground with no clear excuse. Her previous Kembla Grange fourth over 1400m came at big odds after leading and fading late, and she has trialled at Illawarra Grange since. Can return on a positive note.

Went within a nose at Moruya last start after giving a strong sight and racing wide near the 600m. She had also placed here over 1020m two back on soft ground, so the local form is consistent, and the 2kg claim is useful. Honest local form gives her a strong place profile.

Returns from a lengthy spell after a plain ninth at Hawkesbury, where she was unwanted in the market and beaten seven and a half lengths without quickening. She had placed at Sapphire Coast the start prior, though that came after another slow beginning. Has placed at 1200m, but must produce a sharper finish.

Returns from a lengthy spell after finishing last in a Class 1 at Queanbeyan, beaten over 16 lengths at big odds. Her previous Queanbeyan run was also plain, finishing tenth and beaten just over eight lengths when unwanted in the market. Trial adds fitness, but race form is hard to endorse.

Debuts with three trials behind him, including a narrow Moruya trial win over 920m a few weeks ago. He also trialled second at Sapphire Coast in May, so there is at least some public evidence before race day. Race experience is missing, but he has place appeal.

Eased from provincial grade after finishing eighth at Kembla Grange, where he was slow to begin and beaten nine lengths behind Fovea. That was below the level required, but his debut fifth in a 2yo Open at Wellington was more encouraging after he worked into the race before peaking late. Will find this a more suitable assignment and a much better performance is on the cards.

Had excuses on debut at Goulburn, racing wide throughout before finishing ninth and beaten just over five lengths at generous odds. She has since been supported by a solid second in a Nowra trial, and the gear change is noted as a positive. Improvement is possible, but the outside draw makes it tricky.

Debuts off a single Moruya trial from May, when second over 920m but beaten 6.30 lengths, so there is only limited recent evidence to assess. The pedigree has some winning depth through half-siblings Wild Irish and Pole Position, with Pole Position also a debut winner. Market watch, but others have firmer race evidence.
