Races SR Moruya

Closed off with purpose after being slow away in an Open over 1800m at Bathurst, finishing fourth to Michelangelo and beaten four and a half lengths at long odds. That was a better effort than his Rosehill Benchmark 78 run, where he was last and beaten ten lengths after settling back. Proven at the trip, though others bring stronger claims.

Worked home fairly when last of six at Canberra, beaten just under five lengths after giving herself too much to do from back in the field. Two back she was slow away in Open company over 1300m and kept on for eighth, beaten just under four lengths. Place hope, but the recent Miss Stalwart line holds her back.

Led them up in a Benchmark 64 at Kembla Grange last start but could not finish it off, running ninth behind Tom Cruising while beaten just over three lengths. His previous sixth there reads better than the result, as he led and fought on before conceding late. Can find the front and will give them something to catch.

Eases back from mid-week company after finishing second last at Canterbury, beaten seven and a half lengths after settling at the tail and never getting into the race. The better reference is her prior third there on soft ground, when she was slow away, held up near the 200m and still hit the line for a placing. Her recent form is hard to knock and she rates highly in this field.

Stayed in the fight when fourth at Canberra last start, beaten just over two lengths after moving into the race before her effort levelled off late. That followed a sharper second in a Benchmark 65 on soft ground, beaten half a length by Feazabeel after travelling well. Racing in top order and she should get ever chance.

Forgive the Canterbury eighth over 1900m, as she jumped awkwardly, raced wide without cover throughout and was bumped near the 300m before finishing beaten just over eight lengths. Her Canberra third in a Benchmark 65 two back was stronger, and she is well suited back to 1650m with two wins and four placings from six starts at the distance. Back to this trip is a good push for her chances and she looks well placed to return to winning ways.

Worked home fairly without threatening in a Benchmark 66 at Nowra, finishing sixth to Superata and beaten just over four lengths after being unwanted in the market. His prior run at Moruya was disappointing as a well-supported favourite on heavy ground, although the report noted lameness. A sharper finish is required.

Led into the straight in a Benchmark 58 at Moruya last start before tiring into fifth, beaten just over four lengths on soft ground. His previous win here over 2010m was sound, beating Torpedo Ted by just over a length after letting down well. Won't be far away.

Comes back from a Hawkesbury Benchmark 64 where she was at long odds and finished sixth, beaten just under six lengths after failing to pick up. The Goulburn run prior was more competitive, beaten just under two lengths in a Benchmark 58 after beginning awkwardly. Has to lift to trouble the better chances.

Resumed with a fourth in a Class 1 at Moruya over 1435m, leading into the lane before tiring late and finishing beaten just over three lengths at long odds. His previous run here in a Benchmark 58 was only fair from well back, though the margin was under four lengths. Happy to look elsewhere.
