That was at picnic level and he now meets harder company, but his start prior was much stronger when third in a Quality at Eagle Farm, beaten just under a length at generous odds on soft ground. Fitter and in the mix on best.

Comes off a Toowoomba BM70 win on soft ground, holding off Provance by just under a length after being near the top of an open market. The quick back-up is a plus and she has two wins and four placings from eight starts at this distance. The Eidsvold miss is the query, but she has place appeal.

Third-up now and close enough at Dalby last week, finishing fifth behind This Is One and beaten just under three lengths after jumping awkwardly and making contact near the 700m. He had also been in the betting when seventh at Stanthorpe, and the overall profile is sound with six wins and five placings from 20 starts in the past 12 months. Brings enough recent form to be a strong chance.

Closed into third at Dalby last week, beaten a length and a half behind This Is One at generous odds, and the effort had merit after he jumped awkwardly and laid out around the home turn. He also has two wins from four starts at this distance and reunites with Jade Metcalfe, who has a strong record on him. With Jade Metcalfe back aboard, he is the one to beat.

Backs up from Kumbia where he ran third in a small field, beaten three and a half lengths, and that followed a sound second in a Class 4 at Toowoomba on heavy ground behind American Conquest. The four-day turnaround is assessed as suitable and his two wins and two placings from six starts at this distance give him a solid base. The distance record is sound, but he looks better suited to exotics than as the winner.

Resumed with a good Stanthorpe second, beaten half a length by Milton Road after being bumped at the start, and she was well found near the top of betting. She had ended the previous campaign with a plain ninth in a Quality at Eagle Farm at long odds, but her overall record is strong and Jess Emmerson has won three from seven on her. Strong rider-horse record keeps her in the place mix.

Finished last at Stanthorpe last start, beaten seven and a half lengths after an awkward action shortly after the start and racing keenly early. He had placed at St George the run before despite racing wide throughout, and the weight relief plus a strong distance record are positives. Others bring stronger recent form.

Made solid late ground from well back when fourth in a BM65 at Toowoomba on heavy ground, beaten just under two lengths. That followed a BM60 win at Eidsvold where she beat Shemakesmenervous as a well-supported favourite, and she now drops in weight with a sharp 1070m record of five wins from seven starts around the trip. Clear danger with a winning case.

Returns from a five-month break after ending last campaign well beaten in a Quality at Eagle Farm, where he finished 14th at long odds and raced wide. The run prior was much better, winning at Gympie by just under seven lengths, and his latest trial was a solid third at Doomben. Forgive the Eagle Farm finish; his Gympie win and distance record keep him in play.

Was fourth at Stanthorpe last start, beaten two lengths after being bumped, racing wide and hanging in, so there was some merit in the run. He had been second at Dingo over 900m before that, but this is harder company than the picnic race and he has been unplaced in two starts at this distance. Prefer others.

Returns from a five-week freshening after a Tara fifth, beaten seven and a half lengths in a small field over 1400m. His previous run was more encouraging when second in a Quality at Taroom as favourite, beaten half a length by Villaden. His Taroom Quality second and distance record give some hope, but improvement is required.

Comes off a Charleville BM65 win, beating Transceltic by a length with some market support, and he drops from 59.5kg to 55kg. He was also third in a BM65 at Morven two starts back, beaten a length and a half after some late pressure around heels. Honest enough, but this harder Open assignment asks more.
