The start prior had merit too, as he raced keenly, was steadied and had trouble getting clear before finishing fourth to Ring Of Fire. Harder now, but he is improving and stays in the mix.

Worked home evenly when fifth to Wambeen in a Wodonga BM52 last start, beaten two and a half lengths at generous odds. That came after an eighth at Hamilton where he began slowly and was only fair through the line on soft ground. Others are more appealing.

He now comes back to 1600m, where he has won twice from six starts, and he is already a winner at this track and distance. Track-and-trip winner with weight relief, so the second-up case is strong.

His Lockhart run prior was weaker, last of four and beaten just over eight lengths as one of the better-backed runners. Won here five back and has to lift sharply.
