Steward's Comments: When qstd, rdr advised her mnt enjoyed a beneficial run with cover until straightening, however when afforded clear running it did not respond to her riding and was disappointing. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Tnr could offer no explanation, advising the gelding had pleased in the lead up with no issues to report. Tnr subsequently reported that a blood test revealed an elevated white cell count which may be indicative of a virus. Tnr was told a vet clearance is required prior to next race/trial. Vet.

Steward's Comments: Pulled hard for some distance after the 1200m. Was held up in the early part of the straight and near the 350m improved into a position between rnrs where there was doubtful room to do so. When questioned regarding the geld settling further back today, rdr advised that her intention was to obtain a fwd pos in keeping with the gelding’s racing pattern, however when her mount failed to show its customary speed in the early stages and other runners showed intent to press forward, settled further back in the fi.

When questioned rider stated that the intention was to settle further forward but after losing ground at the start he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to gain a more prominent position. Steward's Comments: Was subject to a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Passing the 300m was checked when tightened for room between runners. App rider was advised that although Stewards acknowledged that her mount had lost its rightful running immediately prior to this incident, she should have exercised more care and been more mindful of the positioning of runners to her outside prior to shifting out in the manner in which she did.
