Steward's Comments: Rdr reported after being slow to begin, the gelding failed to muster any early speed despite his efforts. He said passing the 1300m, while continuing to urge his mnt along, the gelding became detached from the field and raced distant for the remainder of the event. He added, in his opinion, his mnt may not have been suited by the addition of blks. A post-race vet exam the gelding did not reveal any abs. Stewards were satisfied that his inactions over the concluding stages of the event did not cost his mount obtaining a better placing.

Passing the post 1st time had to be checked off heels. When questioned rdr stated held up round home turn and early straight but closed off fairly. Added sweated up before race. Did pass a few tired horses but ultimately left run too late 11.5L at Kempsey Bm74 over 1900m. Had no pace early but once balanced up ran ok strongly for sixth 3L at Port Macquarie Bm58 over 2000m.

He added that the mare was also competing down in distance with a heavy weight impost, and as a result, raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
