Steward's Comments: Stewards considered a protest lodged by, rider of 2nd placegetter against the winner, alleging interference over the final 100m. After considering all the evidence, Stewards found that near the 100m the contact between both horses was as a result of 2nd shifting outwards onto 1st and thereafter, both horses were racing tight for the remainder of the event. Given the manner both horses ran to the finish, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had this incident not occur, 2nd would have finished in.

Steward's Comments: Rider quest re tactics and why he gave up lead near 1000m when tempo was only moderate. Rdr explained instr were to not lead but be in first three. He stated that when rnr to outside showed intent he slowed pace and allowed that rnr to cross to lead. Stewards advised rdr that after obtaining lead and when pace was moderate and in stewards opinion when rnr to outside seemed content to remain outside lead he should have shown more judgment and maintained lead.
